How to transfer a call on your Yealink phone

Transferring calls is the thing new staff ask about most. Yealink phones give you two ways to do it, and once you've tried each a couple of times it becomes second nature.

Attended transfer: announce the caller first

Use this when you want to check your colleague is free, or tell them who's calling.

  1. Press TransferDuring the call, press the Transfer (or TRAN) key. Your caller is put on hold.
  2. Dial your colleagueEnter their extension number and press Send or #, or press their BLF key if you have one.
  3. Introduce the callWhen they answer, let them know who's on the line.
  4. Press Transfer againThe two calls are joined and you drop out.

If your colleague can't take it, simply press Cancel or let them hang up, then press Resume to go back to your caller.

Blind transfer: send it straight through

Use this when you know the person is expecting the call.

  1. Press TransferDuring the call, press Transfer.
  2. Dial and sendEnter the extension and press the B Transfer soft key (on some models, press Transfer again straight away).

The call rings your colleague and you're free immediately. If they don't answer, the call follows their normal rules, usually their voicemail.

Quick tip: BLF keys make it one touch

If your phone has keys set up with colleagues' names, pressing one during a call will usually start a transfer to that person. We can set these up for you. See our guide to BLF keys.

Soft key names vary slightly between Yealink models and firmware versions, but the steps are the same. Stuck? Call us on 01695 555055.
