We currently collect and process the following information:

How we get personal information and why we have it
Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:
- Quotations
- Repairs
- Orders
- Warranty
- Support
- Enquiries
We use the information that you have given us in order to:
- Maintain repair history
- Maintain invoice history
- Keep historical statistical tracking
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are:
- (a) Your consent. You are able to remove your consent at any time. You can do this by contacting us.
- (b) We have a contractual obligation.
- (c) We have a legal obligation.
- (d) We have a legitimate interest.
When you visit our website
We use Wiztastic, a privacy-focused analytics service, to understand how our website is used, so we can fix problems and improve our pages. Wiztastic doesn't use cookies. We don't use advertising trackers, and we don't use Google Analytics.
What is collected when you visit a page:
- The page you visited, its title, and the website you came from
- Your screen size, browser language and time zone
- How long the page took to load, how long you stayed and how far you scrolled
- Clicks on phone, email and outside links, so we know which contact options people use
- Technical errors on the page, so we can fix them
To count visits without cookies, the script keeps a short-lived visit code in your browser's session storage, which is cleared when you close the tab. It can also keep a random visitor code in your browser's local storage, so that repeat visits are counted correctly. These codes don't contain your name or contact details. Your IP address is used by the analytics service to estimate your general location, such as your country.
We never collect what you type into forms or password fields.
Why we collect it: to keep the website working well and to improve it. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interests. We don't use this information to build profiles of individuals, and we don't sell it or share it for advertising.
How long we keep it: detailed visit records are kept for up to 90 days. After that we keep only overall totals, which don't identify anyone.
Switching off visit statistics
If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, visit statistics are switched off automatically. You can also switch them off for this browser here:

When you use our contact form
When you send us a message through our contact form, we collect your name, email address, your phone number if you give it, whether you're a home user or a business, your business name if you give it, and your message. We use this only to reply to your enquiry and, if you become a customer, to provide our services.
The form sends your message to us by email using Postmark, an email delivery service run by ActiveCampaign. Postmark processes the message on our behalf, may process it outside the UK under appropriate safeguards, and keeps a copy of sent messages for a limited time (45 days by default) so delivery problems can be investigated. Our lawful basis is your request for us to contact you, and our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries.
To stop the form being misused, we briefly keep a scrambled (hashed) version of the sender's IP address to limit how many messages can be sent in an hour. This is deleted automatically.
How we store your personal information
Your information is securely stored. We keep data for as long as the business requires, and we will dispose of your information when a business requirement is no longer present.
Your data protection rights
Under data protection law, you have rights including:
You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.
You have the right to ask us to rectify personal information you think is inaccurate, and to complete information you think is incomplete.
You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.
You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
You have the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.
You have the right to ask that we transfer the personal information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.
You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you. Please contact us at help@solarit.uk if you wish to make a request.
