BLF stands for Busy Lamp Field. It's a line key on your Yealink phone programmed with a colleague's extension, with a light that shows their status in real time.
What the lights mean
| Light | Meaning | What you can do |
|---|---|---|
| Solid green | Your colleague is free | Press the key to call them |
| Flashing red | Their phone is ringing | Press the key to pick up their call (if call pickup is enabled) |
| Solid red | They're on a call | Wait, or send the caller to voicemail |
| Off | The phone is offline or not monitored | Let us know if this is unexpected |
These are Yealink's standard colours. Your setup may differ slightly.
Three ways BLF keys save time
- Speed dial: press the key to call that person.
- One-touch transfer: press it during a call to transfer straight to them.
- Call pickup: answer a ringing colleague's phone from your desk.
Adding or changing BLF keys
Because we manage your phones centrally, we set BLF keys from our end. That way they survive a phone restart or replacement. Just email help@solarit.uk with the names you'd like, and in what order.
